재미있게 살자~

8/18/08 월. 요새 슬슬 다시 직업병이 도지기 시작했는지, 목에 계속 통증이 있어서 잠을 자꾸 설치다.
올은 학교에 가서 내 방에 들어가서 본격적으로 논문 일을 시작했다. 내 방은 구드심슨 빌딩의 733A. 이 건물은 복도가 ㅁ 자로 되어 있고 창가쪽은 교수님들이, 가운데 방들에는 원생들의 TA/RA 오피스들이 위치한다. 여기는 교수님들과 원생 위주이고, 9층은 학부생들이 주로 쓰나보다.
방안에 들어가보니 잡동사니가 즐비하다.  컴퓨터가 2대에 책상이 2개인데, ID가 없으니까 로그인도 할 수 없다. 여기 학과 ID부터 만들어야 겠다. 우선은 내 노트북에 한국에서 공수해 온 명품 i-Rocks 키보드(컴쟁이들 사이에서는 꽤 유명하지요...) 를 연결하고, LCD 모니터도 크길래(19인치) 랩탑에 연결해서 쓰고 있다. 쓸만하군... KVM 스위치 어디 돌아다니는거 하나 구하면 더 좋을텐데...

화장실에 가다가 소무란 친구를 만났다. 이미 내가 어느 방에 있는지 알고 있었다. 논문 좀 보고 있는데, 누가 문을 두드려서 봤더니, 4월부터 포닥으로 와 있다는 교토대출신 토시유키 시미즈란 일본 친구이다.  동생이 지금 교토대에 있다니까 반가워한다. 프린터 설정에 관해 물어보았는데, 설명하기 어려웠는지 자기 컴퓨터를 보여주면서 얘기하다가 자꾸 일본어를 하고 있다. '조또마떼' ㅋㅋ 암튼, 서로 심심하지는 않아서 괜찮겠다. 근데 이 친구 방이 더 좋은것 같은데.... 
왔다갔다 할때는 몰랐는데, 한 자리에만 앉아 있으니까 에어컨이 세서, 몸이 오슬오슬하다. 내일은 가벼운 잠바나, 긴팔 난방을 좀 가져다 놔야겠다.

6 월에 벌써 43도이면 7,8월 한낮에는 어쩌란거니.... ㅠㅠ

미국 애리조나주에서 처음으로 생긴 대학이며,  아이비대학과 견줄만한  퍼블릭 아이비 리그의 주립대학교 중 하나입니다.

특히 경영학박사과정은 미국 탑3주립대학으로 많은 박사를 배출하여 미국 각대학의 교수로서 많은 연구실적을 보이고 있는 대학입니다.

또한 인공심장을 만들고 암센터를 건립하는 등 의학분야와 약학분야에서  연구성과가 뒤어난 대학입니다.

특히 최근에는 NASA의 프로젝트를 맞아 주도적으로 미국대학연구팀으로서는 처음으로 화성착륙에  성공하는 등  커다란 연구성과를 나타내고 있습니다. 특히 애리조나 대학의 광학분야대학은 자타가 공인하는 세계최고 수준입니다.

최근 20년 동안 첨단 하이테크 산업이 집중 육성되어 1200개 업체에 5만명이 넘는 고용이 창출되었고, IBM을 비롯한 굴지의 기업과 기술자들이 애리조나대가 있는 투산으로 모여들고 있습니다. 그만큼 투산은 하이테크산업지역으로 매력을 끌고 있습니다.  

애리조나대는 중국상해교통대의 세계대학랭킹에서는 3년계속 세계 탑100위에 드는 대학이며  더타임즈나 상해교통대의 미국대학순위에서도  Top50에 드는 아카데믹이 우수하고 리서치가 매우 강한  대학입니다.

특히 애리조나대는 소렌스탐,오초아등 골프여제를 배출하였으며 와일드캐츠라는 대학농구가 유명하며 여자수영에서는 다수의 올림픽 금메달을 따는 스포츠로서도 매우 유명한 대학입니다.
