뭔가 감동적인 인생 드라마를 보여줄 때 TV에서 배경음악으로 즐겨쓰는 노래..
미국 TV에서도 비슷한 상황에서 배경음악으로 쓰더라.. 특히 Westlife가 부른 이 노래가 제일 잘 틀어지고 있다.
나는 처음에 찬송가로 생각했는데(실제로도 찬송가로 많이 쓰이는 것 같고), 기독교인들 사이에서도 이 노래가 찬송가인지에 대한 의견은 분분한 듯 하다. 작곡가와 작사가가 무슨 생각을 가지고 썼는지 알 수 없기 때문이라나.. 아무튼 아래의 내용은 이 노래의 출처에 대한 글을 발췌한 것임.

"You Raise Me Up" 이라는 이 노래의 원곡은 2002년 발매된 "Secret Garden"의 4집 앨범인 "Once In A Red Moon"에 수록된 "You Raise Me Up"의 리메이크 버젼이다.
이 곡은 Josh Groban외에도 Westlife, Celtic Woman등이 리메이크해 불렀고, Kenny G의 섹스폰 연주로도 유명하다.
한국에서는 CCM가수로 알려진 장윤영씨의 2006년 7월, 2집 앨범 "Song Of Hope"에서 "You Raise Me Up(나의 영혼 연약하여 지치고)"라는 곡으로 번역되어 불리기도 했다.

Secret Garden의 멤버 Rolf Lovland가 Silent Story라는 기악곡으로 작곡하였습니다. 이후에 Rolf Lovland가 Whitest Flower라는 소설을 읽고나서 그 저자를 찾아가 자신의 곡에 가사를 붙여달라고 요청했으며, 그 소설가의 이름이 Brendon Graham이다.
